Overview

First Swing Golf ("we," "us," or "our") operates firstswinggolf.org, serving families in St. Anthony, New Brighton, Minneapolis, and surrounding communities. This page explains what information we collect when you visit our website, how we use it, and your choices.

We're a small volunteer-run program that offers free golf lessons for kids. We don't sell data, run ads, or build profiles to market to you. We use basic analytics purely to understand how people find and use the site so we can improve it.

Information We Collect

Information you give us directly

When you fill out our contact form to book a lesson or reach out with a question, you voluntarily provide details such as your name, email address, and your child's age or experience level. We use that information only to respond to you and coordinate lessons. We don't add you to a mailing list or share it with third parties.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our site collects some data automatically when you visit. This includes your approximate location (city/region level, derived from IP address), the type of browser and device you're using, which pages you visit, how long you spend on them, and how you arrived at the site (e.g., a search engine or a link).

We do not collect precise location data, and we do not knowingly collect any personal information from children.

Analytics — PostHog

We use PostHog to understand how visitors use our site. PostHog collects page-view events, click patterns, and session information using cookies and similar technologies. This data is aggregated and used only to improve the website — for example, to see which pages visitors find helpful or where they drop off.

PostHog is configured with person_profiles: 'identified_only', which means it does not create persistent profiles for anonymous visitors. Data is stored on PostHog's US servers. You can read PostHog's own privacy policy at posthog.com/privacy.

If you'd prefer not to be tracked by PostHog, you can opt out by enabling the "Do Not Track" setting in your browser, or by using a browser extension that blocks analytics scripts.

Cookies

Our site uses cookies placed by PostHog to distinguish unique sessions and track page navigation within a visit. These are not used for advertising. You can disable cookies in your browser settings at any time, though some site features may not work as expected.

Third-Party Services

We load fonts from Google Fonts. Google may collect limited data as part of serving those font files — see Google's Privacy Policy for details. We don't use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or any advertising network.

Children's Privacy

Our program serves kids 12 and under, but this website is directed at parents and guardians, not children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has submitted personal information to us, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Data Retention

Contact form submissions are kept only as long as needed to coordinate lessons or answer your question. Aggregated analytics data is retained in PostHog per their standard retention policy.

Your Rights

You may request that we delete any personal information you've submitted to us. Just send us an email and we'll take care of it. If you're in California, you have additional rights under the CCPA; if you're in the EU or UK, you have rights under the GDPR — including the right to access, correct, or erase your data.

Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this policy we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of the page. We encourage you to check back periodically.
